A new manual on protecting archives was recently published in collaboration with the International Council on Archives’ (ICA) Expert Group on Emergency Management and Disaster Preparedness. The manual, written by Emilie Gagnet Leumas and Margaret Crockett, is titled “Emergency Management and Disaster Preparedness: A Manual for Protecting Archives,” and includes information on the creation of disaster plans, the impact of disasters on archives, the establishment of a disaster response team, post-emergency procedures, recovery efforts, and rehabilitation.
It is available for download on the ICA’s website here.
