Last week, we circulated the second letter delivered to Congress by a coalition of more than 1,000 organizations calling for the defeat of S. 5653, the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026. Section 106, the law that requires federal agencies to consider the consequences of their actions for historic places and consult with affected communities before decisions become irreversible, is under threat, and people are speaking up.
This week, we are spreading the word about an upcoming rally in Washington D.C. organized by the 106 Strong campaign of the Cultural Heritage Partners, PLLC. Add your voice to those protecting our heritage!
If you are in the D.C. area on Monday, November 9, join Tribal leaders, heritage advocates, community leaders, civil rights advocates, historians, and concerned citizens from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. on the U.S. Capital Grounds West Lawn for a peaceful rally in defense of heritage. That is the day that the U.S. Senate is expected to vote on legislation that would fundamentally weaken Section 106; let the Capitol know that we do not support this threat to our history and culture.
Register here for the rally!
